I tried out two 300mm lenses today. One (relitivly) cheep Sigma 20-300 (or something like that) and a Canon IS 70-300.
The Sigma lens at 1/125
The Canon lens at 1/45 with IS off
The Canon lens at 1/45 with IS on.
As you can see, the Canon lens with image stabalization turned on just
plain rocks. It costs $800 ($650 more than the bottom-of-the-line
Sigma 70-300). Time to start saving...
50mm Lenses
For fast shots, the stock EOS lens just plain sucks. Big time.
Here its the difference between the Canon 50mm lens at f2.4 and
the stock lens at f4.5 (at roughly 50mm)
